Martinez Vows Not To Change

Roberto Martinez has stated that his side will not change their ways as he prepared his side for two away games in four days this week.

Martinez was speaking ahead of the midweek trip to Cheltenham and after that he takes his side to unbeaten Leeds on Saturday. In an interview with the Evening Post he said "I can guarantee you nobody plays the way we do in League One and we’re not going to change because that would be a big mistake

"A team like Arsenal have a philosophy which they stick to. They always play the same way from the first minute to the last whoever they are up against. "We will keep playing because our strength as a team is our pattern of play. "We kept playing on Friday night from the first minute to the 90th and eventually we got our rewards. "You can speak to any Carlisle player – they really suffered in the last 15 minutes because they were chasing shadows for long periods and that’s a huge compliment to us. "Maybe we were a bit fresher because we’d had a weekend off, but we won the game late on because we kept on doing the right things."

"There are clubs around the world, Arsenal is one and so are Barcelona and Real Madrid, who do not change the way they play whoever they’re up against "They understand how to affect opponents from first to last. "Other clubs are successful by being more negative. They adapt to conditions or the opposition and they are more direct. They try to hurt defenders a different way. "That’s a different philosophy, but our way is to be patient. We want to express ourselves on the pitch at this club and to do that we need the understanding and support of our fans."
