Way Looks To Kick Start Swans Career

Way had ensured a terrible run of injuries since arriving at Yeovil in January of 2006 but finally he made his comeback to the first team in Tuesday night’s 1-0 defeat by MK Dons at the Liberty Stadium.

It was Way’s first appearance of the season in the Swans first team although he did play 7 games for Yeovil in a loan spell at the end of last year in a bid to regain fitness.ย  It was only the 6th time he had completed a 90 minute game for the Swans.

Speaking after the game, Way told the Evening Post “Hopefully, my Swansea career finally starts here

“After the problems I’ve had, I’m over the moon to be involved again and my aim now is to play a few more games between now and the end of the season.

“I’m feeling fine. To play on Tuesday was a massive boost for me and I’m just disappointed that we didn’t win the game.

“The boys have been doing really well,” Way said. “But I have to be strong and try to show the gaffer that I’m there if he needs me. Football is all about challenges, and I’m ready to take this one on.”

The chances of a start against Luton tomorrow night look slim, but there should be another opportunity for Way to impress in next Monday’s return leg at MK Dons.

“We had the chances to go there with a good lead, but Willy Gueret played really well,” he added.

“But there’s another game to come yet and we certainly don’t feel out of it.”

Way admits that previously he may have rushed comebacks in a bid to get back to action but says “I wasn’t right

“I was going home and feeling quite a lot of pain, but that’s behind me now.

“Owain (Tudur Jones) has been through the same sort of thing as me. I have had a lot done and players who go through this sort of thing know that it takes time to heal.

“But I’ve worked hard to get over the injuries and I’m looking forward to the future now.”
