O’Leary’s Nerves At Monk Replacement

The testimonial man put in a near faultless performance as the Swans kept the Terriers at bay to equal a club record twelve unbeaten league games on the road and move one closer to the overall record of nineteen.

And whilst a first team place may not have been too often containing the name O'Leary this season, Kris did make the most of his chance despite his pre-match nerves.

"I spoke to the gaffer before the game and he asked me how I felt about playing in central defence," he told the Evening Post.

"I was a bit nervous because I haven't played there a lot lately, maybe once last season and once or twice the season before that.

"You get into a rhythm when you're playing and I haven't been playing that often, and I was coming back in on a ground where we haven't played too well over the years.

"It was a test for me, but I said 'Of course' when the gaffer asked me and I think I did all right.

"I prefer playing in central midfield. That's where I've had probably my best spell and there's more to do in that position. But we kept a clean sheet against a Huddersfield side who are a handful.

"I'm sure as soon as Monks gets fit he'll be back in because he's been one of our best players this season. His leadership and performances have been class.

"I don't know whether he'll be fit for Millwall, but there's Den as well and Kev can play centre-back too, so we'll see what happens."
