No Points Target For Roberto

The Swans currently stand on 74 points with 11 games remaining and whilst many fans are predicting a requirement of around the 85-88 point mark to secure promotion, Martinez will not give out the target that has been set inside the walls of the Liberty Stadium.

After a return of just one point from six at home in the past week, the Swans hit the road this week with trips to Northampton, Bristol Rovers and Southend coming up in a seven day period but there is no hint of panic in Roberto's mind as they effectively on Tuesday moved one point closer to the overall target he has in his mind.

“The target is to carry on the level of performances we showed against Tranmere for the next 11 games. If we do that, I will be happy," he told the Western Mail

“I don’t we think we got to the amount we have now by thinking about the points.

“We need to make sure we perform the way we can at Northampton and, if we maintain our level of performance, I’m sure we will get the points we deserve.

“With the talent we have in this squad it would be a big mistake to try and reach a number.

“I don’t think Doncaster and Carlisle are looking at us. What they have at the moment is a very personal fight between the two of them and they are helping each other.

“There are two places at stake and sometimes when you are isolated at the top it’s a little bit harder to push yourselves.

“But that’s something we have to adapt to and we need to make sure we keep going.”

And with an away record of no defeat in twelve stretching back to September there is no reason why the Swans cannot go away and expect results – the key is, as every, in the delivery rather than the expectation.
