Roberto Believes Robbo Will Stay

Robinson revealed earlier in the week that he and his agent have plans to sit down and discuss a new deal with the Swans before the month is out and the midfielder – with 10 goals to his name this season – declared that he didn't want to leave the Swans.

It is five years ago this summer that Robinson arrived at Swansea – plucked from non league football by Brian Flynn – and since then he has become a regular name on the Swans team sheet as well as the goalscoring charts.  10 goals this season have emphasised that point and few would deny him the chance to test himself at a higher level come August.   Just now he gets the chance to do that with the Swans.

"Everyone knows about the relationship between Andy Robinson and Swansea City," the Swansea manager told the Evening Post.

"Every time you are out of contract there are certain negotiations which have to go on.

"But in my eyes it's now about sitting down and finalising things with Andy and I believe everything will be done before our last game of the season at Brighton.

"We have made it clear to Andy that we want him to stay and I see him playing for Swansea City for many years to come.

"When we assembled the squad last year we thought about the Championship," the Spaniard added.

"We thought about whether the players were good enough then and I would say that potentially everyone is ready."

"I've never seen an agent who doesn't speak with other clubs," he said.

"We lost one player (Lee Trundle) who was contracted to us but knew the offer he was going to get somewhere else, and you're never going to stop that in football.

"It's naive to think that agents do not communicate, but I just see it as a good test.

"If the player wants to go, we are not going to stand in his way. We only want players who are fully committed and want to be at this club for the right reasons."
