Double Your Money Chance For Robbo?

The midfielder is out of contract this summer and there appears to be some stand off between club, player and agent over the new deal with some reports suggesting that Robinson's agent could also be talking to other clubs.

The Wales on Sunday newspaper also reports today that the Swans are determined not to be held to ransom and if that means losing their man then so be it.

However, the News of the World 'understands' that Robinson has been offered a club record £6,000 per week – double his current wages – to stay at the Liberty Stadium.

The paper quotes a Liberty Stadium 'source' as saying "Everyone was confident Robbo would sign a new deal but it is dragging on a bit too long now.

"Swansea fear the big offer they made him may not be enough to keep him.  Players can be short sighted with the lure of a bigger pay cheque elsewhere but that's down to the player.  Robbo has always said it would break his heart to leave Swansea – now is his chance to prove he means it by signing a new contract."

Wales on Sunday though state that their club sources say that there will be no movement from the offer that has been given which appears to be generous if the paper reports elsewhere are correct.

Robinson’s agent, Neil Sang, has told Wales on Sunday he was hoping to meet again with Swans chairman Huw Jenkins and stressed he is keen for a deal to be struck which leaves both the club and the player happy.

Whether that will be at the levels reported or not remains to be seen.
