Swans To Travel To Both Birmingham And Reading

The two clubs joined Derby in taking the plunge from the top division leaving just two of next season's opponents unknown as the play offs took the first steps forward this weekend.

It was a tense final day for the two remaining relegation spaces in the Premiership with Fulham also aiming to beat the drop as the kick off approached at 3pm.  And, incredibly, all three sides in danger all won leaving it to an "as you were" situation.

Reading put four goals past the hapless Derby – who ended the season with just 11 points and one win from the worst Premiership season ever – but that was not enough to save them whilst Camerone Jerome was on target twice in Birmingham's 4-1 victory over Blackburn but it was not enough to save them from the drop to the second tier.

Both were effectively condemned when Danny Murphy scored 14 minutes from time to give Fulham victory at FA Cup finalists Portsmouth although Birmingham would have gone down even if Fulham had got a draw.

In the play offs to exit the Championship for the Premiership Bristol City and Hull both won away against Crystal Palace and Watford respectively to take a big step towards Wembley whilst Doncaster and Southend fought out a 0-0 draw to try and join Swansea and Forest in the second tier.  Leeds and Carlisle play tomorrow evening.
