Overseas Missions For Martinez

After the success of last season's signings from the continent Roberto has again re-iterated his desire to utilise all options available to him – backing up his previous comments which are based around English based players becoming over prices.

Roberto is believed to be looking for new recruits from all positions as he prepares the Swans for their first attempt on the second tier of English football for 24 years.

"We will definitely go into the Continental market," Roberto told the Evening Post.

"If we want to be successful in the Championship, we have to do it.

"As the boys we brought over last year have showed, there are great professionals available in Europe who are prepared to give everything for Swansea City.

"They have a fantastic attitude and bring something different to our squad.

"We have probably got four or five players in mind for each position," Martinez added.

"We are well advanced with a number of them, but it’s important to know about players’ personalities as well as their abilities.

"That can take a little more time, but everything will be ready for June 27.

We’re looking at British players as well because we have to," he said.

"There are certain positions where the players need to know the British game inside out — they need to have a certain number of British-tempo games under their belt.

"Then there are positions where you can get a fresher approach from the Continent, so it’s about finding the right balance."
