Derby County Ready For Improved Ferrie Bid

Derby have had two bids for the player turned down already – the last one being £750,000 plus add-ons – but they are determined to land their man although it will need some come down from the Swans in the process.

The Swans earlier this week slapped a £2m figure on the head of the want away Bodde with Chairman Huw Jenkins saying "We will try our best to try and make sure he stays with us

"Ferrie signed a three-year contract when he joined us last year and until that changes, he will remain our player.

"The manager says he thinks Ferrie is worth £2m and I think, if a player is intent on leaving and you get the right valuation, then we might have to look at it.

"But nobody has met our valuation on a player that we think can be playing in the top four of the Premier League."

Derby though are reported in the local Derby paper to be ready to come back with an improved offer although their Chairman – Adam Pearson – says that their valuation of the player does not match that of the Swans

"I haven't commented to the press before on this but we keep seeing these comments coming out of South Wales which I find interesting. But anyway, it keeps us abreast of the situation if nothing else," said Pearson.

"We're aware the player has made a transfer request. We're aware from various quotes around the country that he specifically wants to come to Derby. And we specifically want him here at the club.

"Our valuation is some way short of what Swansea have put out into the press and, when we're ready to do so, we'll improve our offer but it's nice to know the player wants to come here and a committed player is always very nice to have at the club. He's certainly a player that we think can do a job for us."
