Swans Tell Derby County – No Rush Over Bodde

Derby have been reported as making an offer of up to £2m for the player – the figure of the Swans valuation – but that seems to be the general consensus that it is made up of an up front offer with clauses that could take it to that very valuation.  And whilst the Chairman was not ready to admit how much the offer was he did admit that Derby had been back again with an improved bid.

But he was refusing to be pressured into making a decision over the future for the player and had told Derby that he will get back to them.

He also re-iterated the Swansea stance that he wants the player to stay at the club for next season – echoing totally the words of his manager – and that now seems to be the basis around their decision – whether they want to sell rather than whether the offer is acceptable?

“Derby have made an improved offer but nothing has really changed from our point of view," Jenkins said

“Yes, we have made clear our thoughts on Ferrie's value but only because people have asked the question.

“It doesn't change the fact that we don't want him to leave. Whether he does or not will ultimately be a football issue.

For us, it's a question of whether Roberto and Ferrie feel he can play for us and be happy next season

“As far as Derby are concerned, I have told them I will come back to them and I haven't given them a timescale. We're in no rush.”

Derby manager Paul Jewell added “We have made another offer and, hopefully, we can get something sorted out"
