Jones “Excited” By Swans Fixtures

The fixtures throw in some more 'glamorous' ties compared to what the Swans have become used to over the past 24 years with the likes of both Sheffield clubs, Wolves, Cardiff, Birmingham and Reading all competing on a Swans fixture list for the first time in quite some time.

It is the first time in 24 years that the Swans have competed at the second tier of English football level and Jones admits that it looks good at the moment although he couldn't help having a look at the Cardiff dates as well – something that many fans would have done themselves today

Speaking to the official website, Jones said "There's no easy games in this league, we all know that," said the 38-year-old. "That's the challenge ahead for the football club and all of the teams in this division will find that out when they play against Swansea.

"Obviously I'm disappointed that we're not at home for the first game but it's going to be a stern test down at Charlton, who are an ex-Premier League club, but we're looking forward to it.

"There are some big clubs in this league and we're one of them, it's eleven versus eleven and not the size of the club and we're hoping to compete.

"Nothing is ever decided over one or two games, it's a long season and obviously we'll be judged at the end of the campaign.

"That's the first fixture that all the Swansea supporters have been looking for," he said. "I'm pleased that we've got them at home in the first game and I can't wait." he said in reference to the Cardiff games

"It's great history that fixture, nine years is a long time but 24 years outside of this division is a long time aswell. Looking at the fixtures every game is exciting but for obvious reasons supporters will be looking at that one in particular
