Gower has been linked with a move to the Liberty Stadium over the course of the summer – a move not fully confirmed by Swansea – but has been slow to make his mind up. Last week manager Steve Tilson said that they were waiting for the decision from the player and they expected to hear by the weekend just gone but evidently that has not yet happened.
But now both club and player are saying that his decision is imminent whether he wants to stay in League One with Southend or make a step up to be part of Swansea's Championship challenge.
Speaking in the echo Tilson said "I've spoken to Mark and I think today could be the day he makes his mind up
"He wants things to be sorted out soon and we're obviously hoping for good news because he's a very important player for us and it would be a massive boost if he stayed."
Whilst Gower added "Nothing has been agreed or sorted out yet but I'm hoping it will be in the next couple of days."
The Echo also reports potential interest in the player from Blackpool which could provide the Swans with some competition for his signature.
Tilson added last week "We've made him a good offer to stay – the best we can afford in actual fact – and I hope he stays because he's an excellent player.
"But I know he's been talking to a Championship club and he is weighing up his options.
"At this stage of this career, if he gets a better offer from a club at a higher level then it's something he may go for.
"He's having a think about what is a big decision for him but we couldn't have done any more to keep him here."
