Martinez watched as goals from Ferrie Bodde and Gorka Pintado were added to a Paul Smith own goal in the first half to secure the first three points of the season to move the Swans halfway up the Championship table.
And it was the manner of the performance rather than the result itself which gave Roberto the most satisfaction as he talked after the game.
"I'm very pleased with the performance," declared Martinez. "We have taken things a step forward from where we left off at Charlton and, while there are still many areas where we can improve, we did play some fantastic football.
"We dominated the first half hour especially, and the biggest disappointment was that we didn't make that count with more than one goal.
"That meant we had to go and win the game in the second half and thankfully we managed that."
The Swans next league action is next Saturday against Plymouth in the early evening Sky TV kick off
