Orlandi was singing the praises of his countryman after Gomez scored the crucial goal on Tuesday night that knocked Premier League side Hull out of the Carling Cup.
And as the Swans await their next opponents in the competition, Swans winger Orlandi was talking up the abilities of Gomez who is trying to dislodge the midfield trio of Bodde, Pratley and Britton for Championship starts.
Speaking in tonight's Evening Post Orlandi said "Jordi is a very good technical player – he has that pass that can open up a whole defence when a game is tight
"Sometimes in British football you don't have much time on the ball, but that is something you get used to.
"It's quicker and stronger than in Spain, but Jordi will quickly adapt.
"I think he needs a month to be at his best. I have watched Championship games and I have not seen any midfielder like him.
"Nobody can pass a ball 40 yards and land it on your toe like Jordi.
"He is in a similar position to myself – he has a lot of competition for central midfield and I told him that before he came here.
"But if he plays like I know he can when he gets a chance then he will be a very, very good player.
"For me, it's easier playing with him because he is also left-footed and naturally he looks down the left.
"We joked afterwards about the penalty against Hull. I also wanted to take it but Jordi was closer so he was first to the ball.
"But it was great for him to get off the mark for the club. I'm sure there's more to come from him.
"We are really fortunate to have him," reckons Orlandi. "I will tell him to stay if we can keep him.
"Now is not the time to talk about it, but I hope Espanyol forget about him."
