Painter has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club "beyond 2010" and joins the recent signatures of Jason Scotland, Angel Rangel and Darren Pratley as players who have signed on the dotted line at Swansea
Painter told the official site "I'm very happy to have signed a new contract with Swansea City
"With my contract finishing at the end of the season it's good that I've been able to sign a new deal at such an early stage of the campaign, meaning that I can go out now and concentrate on my football.
"I'm happy at the club, I'm enjoying my football and I feel that it's an exciting time to be a part of Swansea City.
"We're moving in the right direction and hopefully we can build on the fantastic start we have made to the season, starting by putting in a good performance at Crystal Palace on Saturday."
Whilst Roberto was equally as happy "We are delighted that Marcos has decided to commit his future to us," he said.
"He has developed massively over the past 16 months and at his age it's great news that he wants to carry on progressing as a player and committing himself to this football club
"Marcos has a reliable personality in the dressing room and as a player we all saw his contribution as the club won the title last campaign.
"We all feel that he'll carry on fulfilling his potential with Swansea City and we're delighted to see Marcos in a white shirt for the long term."
