Ignoring his press ban and speaking to a foreign football magazine, Bodde's timing was impeccable with Derby and their one point due at the Liberty on Tuesday for a league encounter.

A very public pursuit of the player in the summer eventually ended just before the season started with Bodde signing a new contract at the Liberty whilst Derby were left to pursue their second choice.

Comments came from Pride Park that Ferrie was house hunting in the area and, despite "never speaking to the player" they knew that they were the club he wanted to join.   But that was put on hold when Ferrie was persuaded to stay at Swansea by manager Roberto Martinez who told him it was the right thing for his career.

And in the interview with Voetbal International, the Dutch midfielder says "I have always stated that I would be open to it, but not at all costs.

"The clubs couldn't come to a deal.

"No problem, at the end of the day I was really happy that the affair had ended.

"Roberto Martinez, who I have a good relationship with, told me that Derby were not better than Swansea.

"I have to agree with him, because Derby are bottom of the table with one point from four games.

"The club knows what I would like, but I'm at a higher level than last season. Let's see if I can handle it.

"The club is of this opinion as well. If I could go higher with Swansea, that would be great. The manager also said that he will stay at the club to see how far he could take them. Our targets match really well."
