Captain Vows To Overcome Bodde Blow

The Swansea City captain believes that they are strong enough to overcome the loss of Bodde who was ruled out for the season yesterday following an injury picked up on Friday night.

The Swans currently sit in 9th place in the Championship – just one point off the play off positions with 18 games of the season gone.ย  And whilst it has been reports of doom and gloom following the injury to the influential Dutchman, Monk insists that the Swans are not a one man team.

Speaking to today’s News of the World, Monk said “Ferrie is a massive loss for us because he’s an important player.

“The rest of the division will now be looking at us to see how we do without him.ย ย  But I think we’ve shown this season we’re not a one man team.ย  We don’t reply entirely on Ferrie.ย  We’ve got strenhth in depth and quality players all over the place.

“Don’t get me wrong, Ferrie’s a great player but I thought we coped well when he went off.ย  It was when we lost Leon Britton in the second half that we started to struggle.ย ย  We couldn’t cope in midfield without the two of them and Birmingham scored twice to win the game.

“This is a chance for lads like Owain Tudur-Jones and Shaun MacDonald to show what they’ve got.ย  This is the chance they’ve been waiting for.

“We’re at Coventry on Tuesday and then we’ve got Cardiff.ย  They’re good enough it’s whether they take their opportunity.ย  This is a chance for them to make a statement.”
