Dimi Gutted By League Decision But May Return

Despite the best efforts of both Swansea City and Coventry City the goalkeeper had to admit defeat and return to the Ricoh arena yesterday after the league refused to grant dispensation to allow his loan move to go through.

The two sides had agreed to let him stay at Swansea until the end of the season but a traffic delay meant that they could not file the paperwork in time and they appealed for a delay.

And further league rules mean that Dimi cannot return to Swansea when the loan window opens on Monday – he has already spent 93 days at the club as an emergency loan – the maximum allowed according to the league.

But the big keeper could still return to the Liberty in the summer depending on how things progress over the next three months as both sides look for alternative options at the moment.

“I’m very disappointed,” Konstantopoulos told the Evening Post.

“The M6 was closed because of the bad weather last Monday which meant my journey to Coventry’s ground took two and a half hours longer than it should have done.

“If it hadn’t been for the weather, I would have got there well before 5pm and been able to sign.

“I expected the Football League to see that and be lenient so it’s disappointing for me that they haven’t.

“Both clubs had agreed everything and I wanted to come back, but now I’m back at Coventry and maybe I’ll think about going somewhere else when the loan window reopens.

“I enjoyed my time with Swansea

“The lads were brilliant, the fans supported me and the team played good football. Everything was positive so maybe I could come back in the summer.

“That is a long time away, though, so we’ll just have to see what happens.

“I think with a bit of luck, this can be a great season for Swansea, the lads have done tremendously well while I’ve been at the club and, from what I’ve seen, they have nothing to fear in the Championship.”
