Scoring 24 goals for the Dumfries club last season the Glaswegian had been heavily linked with the Swans for the last three weeks but with a host of SPL and championship clubs tracking the striker the deal was by no means done. However the offer from Huw Jenkins and Roberto Martinez was too good to turn down as the striker now reveals, he said “I'm sad to leave Queen of the South as I felt I'd struck up a good bond with the fans those past two and a half years. However, it's an offer I just couldn't refuse! I'd like to say a big thank-you to the manager, the players, coaching staff at Palmerston and I'll never forget my time there.”
Dobbie's former boss Gordon Chisholm has expressed his disappointment at loosing one of his best players but is pleased that his former charge will fulfil his ambition as he told the clubs official site, he said “ Stephen's fulfilled his ambition and will now be playing at a higher level. We're naturally disappointed to lose him but delighted for Dobbs himself."
Dobbie will sign on a long term performance related contract with the club.
