Coppell quite Reading at the end of last season insisting that he needed a break from football.

And the availability of the Swansea job will not change that feeling as he plans to take the remainder of the year out of the game before making a decision on whether he wants to return.

One of football's most loyal managers testified by long spells with both Crystal Palace and Reading will become hot property should he decide to return to the game but the timings do not fit with Swansea's sudden requirements.

The bookies early favourite Chris Coleman also appears not to be on the move with Ray Ranson saying last week "QPR's Chairman Gianni Paladini approached us last week and asked for permission to speak to Chris and I said 'no, I spoke to Chris and he said he wasn't interested in going anywhere.

"It just goes to show what a good manager we have got here – I said that when I first appointed Chris that our problem would be keeping hold of him.

"The interest from other clubs and speculaton shows what a good job he is doing – he is a top class manager and a good bloke."
