The Liberty Stadium outfit have received permission from Sheffield United to speak to Gary Speed about the vacant mangers position at the club, but reports have suggested that Jenkins has not rulled out Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale.

Looking at a host of options, Jenkins will not be rushed into making a decision after whittling down the 100 or so applicants for the job down to a short-list of 10 candidates, as he told the Western Mail, he said “We are looking at a number of different options, each of which are very good candidates, and there’s no point rushing this.”

“We have a good squad in place and that gives us the opportunity to take our time. There’s certainly no panic buttons being pressed. The more people I speak to and the more advice I get, the more I realise we need to be patient.”

Facing one of the biggest decisions in the club's recent history, the local businessman is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that the appointment of the successor to Roberto Martinez is the correct one, “We are doing a lot of checks on candidates and that will stand us in good stead. I have always said that this is most important decision the current board has had to make. With that in mind it’s important we do everything possible to get it right.”

However he has admitted that it will be difficult to lure a top manager to South Wales with money a very real issue in his mind, “It’s going to be difficult, I cannot hide from that. The way football has gone over the last few years, I think money talks. I'm not sure how things will develop. It’s very, very difficult to say.”

In other news Swansea City have cancelled their pre-season training camp in Sweden but the tour to Spain has been given the green light.
