The former Welsh international has been tipped as one of the possible targets for the club but the 39 year old has been coy over his chances of succeeding Roberto Martinez at the Liberty Stadium, “I wouldn't want to talk about anything else while Roberto Martinez is still the manager. Kevin Blackwell has brought me into the fold and I've learnt a lot off him as a coach and it's been a great experience for me learning the ropes. “
Whilst at Sheffield United the midfielder has been acquiring his coaching badges and a source at the Yorkshire club hinted a few days ago that Speed was very much interested in hanging up his boots to go into management, the source told the Mirror “Sheffield United, said: "Much as Gary has loved his career, he knows time is running out. He has all his coaching badges and is keen to stay in the game as a manager or coach."
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has indicated that he hopes to have some “positive” news about a replacement for Martinez by the end of the week.
