Sheffield United's Gary Speed has been given permission by the Yorkshire club to speak to Swansea about the vacant managers job at the Liberty Stadium, whilst target John Hughes has moved to SPL side Hibs.

Over the last few days Exeter City have also moved to cool talk that Paul Tisdale was leaving the club, for a move to South Wales, by stating that the Maltese born manager was loyal to the club.

Whoever replaces the Spaniard one thing is clear, the former Birmingham City man who missed the vast majority of last season through a knee injury has revealed that he does not know who will be at the helm at the start of the season. He told the SWEP, “We are like the fans in that we don't really know who is going to be appointed at present.”

"There has been a lot of interest in the vacant job according to all of the newspapers and internet and some good names have been linked but, as players, we don't really know who will be appointed until it happens.”

Giving chairman Huw Jenkins and the board a vote of full confidence, the 22 year old believes that they will make the right decision to take the club forward, " I am sure the board will appoint the right man to take the club forward."

Meanwhile, Roberto Martinez's move to Wigan is expected to be ratified later today.
