Collins featured very little in the first team last season either through injury or by the form of Angel Rangel at right back. However the Welshman is delighted with his new contract and has vowed to fight for his place as he outlined on the official site, he said “I'm delighted, I was told midway through last season that I would be offered a new deal, but with all the uncertainty surrounding the manager it was always in the back of my mind that it may not happen. “
He added “Last season was better than my first at the club and I intend to keep that progression going. At my age and at this stage of my career, I need to be playing on a more regular basis.”
"I feel my game has progressed significantly over the last two years at the club, especially as I've switched from midfield to right-back. I feel comfortable there now and I believe I am ready to kick-on.
"I love the club and I am proud, especially as a Welshman, to be offered the new deal. It's a great club and I really want to kick on here.''
