The statement in full:
The circumstances of the departure of Roberto Martinez are particularly disappointing to Swans fans, and yet again bring into focus the fragility of the sport in this highly professional era. It will be interesting to see his successor’s approach to achieving the twin aims of being both successful and entertaining.
To take a moment for reflection, let us all recall the dark days of the Petty era, and focus on the huge progression that has been made in the last eight years under the stewardship of this club board. We are probably in as strong a position, both on and off the pitch, as we have ever been, and if we the fans maintain and build on the level of support that we have shown in recent years, then we can look forward to the continuing development and success of our football club.
To Roberto a thank you for what you have done both as a player and a manager here in Swansea but now Swansea City move on to a new era and your Supporters Trust feel that an expression of support for Huw Jenkins is particularly merited at this time – the club has been through a difficult period, and the way that Huw has conducted himself, in respect of individuals, other clubs and the media, has been exemplary.
The Trust do not always agree with other Board members on matters concerning our club, but we are an integral part of the democratic process that manages our club, and we feel it right to express our support and admiration for the manner in which the club has conducted dealings in this testing period.
Huw Jenkins, and the other SCFC board members (including the Trust), are all genuine fans of Swansea City, and we re-affirm our 100% support to them in the challenging task of appointing our new manager and the next stage in the progression of our football club. Let us make sure we give them, the players and our next manager our full support
Swansea City supporters trust have praised Huw Jenkins and the board after the fractious departure of manager Roberto Martinez.
