Jones who was loaned out to blue square premier outfit Cambridge United last season has failed to break through into the first team but has featured in the reserves. In the last few years many have pinpointed the slow down in the development of the 19 year old, who has failed to fulfil his early potential at the club.

The former Welsh U-19's has made only nine first team appearances since he signed professional terms with Swansea in 2006 under then manger Kenny Jackett. Mariners boss Mike Newell will assess Jones over the next few days with a view to signing a contract with the Blundell Park club.
