The new arrival at the Liberty has targetted a first Championship start on August 8 when the Swans open up against Leicester at the Walkers Stadium.

Dobbie has been happy with his contribution to date and will search for more goals this weekend as the Swans finish their pre-season plans but says that will count for nothing if he fails to land a start on the opening day

Speaking to the Western Mail, Dobbie said “As good as it is to get momentum going during pre-season, proving his worth in the real deal is what really matters.

“My priority now is to make sure I’m in the starting XI when it is picked for Leicester,” he said.

“So, when I get a chance, it’s up to me to make the most of it and stick the ball in the net.

“Being involved and trying to get in the team at the start of the season is the most important thing for me.

“The more games I play, the more I will adjust and the better I will get.

“Everyone knows goals breed confidence with strikers. I got a couple against Neath before we left for Spain and, after missing a few against Palamos, I was happy to take my chances on Monday.

“The confidence will come if I keep playing like that.

“I’m still trying to settle in and get to know the boys so it’s good to be getting things right on the pitch.”
