A club spokesman has revealed the extent of the damage and has declared the toilet facilities in the North Stand unusable. Other areasย needing repair, ย include sections of seating , pipework and displays. The spokesman also confirmed that Cardiff City are aware of the damage, โThe toilets are now unusable, and we are assessing the cost of repairs. It will run into thousands of pounds, and Cardiff City are aware of the damage.”
Vince Alm of the Cardiff City supporters trust has used strong language and has called supporters who engaged in criminal damage as an embarrassment to the Capital club, he said “Prior to the game I went on all the local radio stations and the local papers telling people not to damage the Liberty Stadium. It’s mindless and stupid and I wish these people wouldn’t come to football matches if this is what they do. They are an embarrassment to the football club.”
It is not the first time Cardiff fans have defaced and vandalised the North Stand at the Liberty Stadium. In the aftermath of last seasons 1-0 win over the Bluebirds in the Carling Cup, similar damage was done to the away stand with that bill costing thousands of pounds to put right.
Liberty bosses have expressed their disappointment at the behaviour of some of the visiting fans, “It is totally unacceptable behaviour and we are extremely disappointed.โ
Cardiff City have yet to comment about the damage caused.
