Hartson Hails Sousa Achievement

The lifelong Swansea City fan would have been as pleased as anyone last week when Fede Bessone’s goal lifted the Swans temporarily into third place in the Championship.

Bessone struck nine minutes from time to give the Swans the victory over Derby at the Liberty and even if 3rd place was just for 24 hours – the Swans dropped to 4th the day after – it is still their highest league placing for 26 years.

And Hartson hailed the part that Sousa had to play in that when he told BBC Sport “There were a few questions asked about Paulo Sousa when he took the job

“But he was brave – very, very brave to take the job on after Roberto Martinez as it was always going to be a difficult job for anybody after Roberto did so well there winning the League One championship and finishing eighth in the two seasons.

“But it is a great and they’re on a great run at the moment even though they are not playing fantastic football that they maybe were under Roberto.

“I don’t think the fans are that bothered if they’re playing well as it is a winning business they’re in.”
