The Dutchman needs to have surgery after pulling up just 30 minutes into his second comeback of the season against Peterborough on Saturday and will be out until next season.

It was only the former Den Haag man's fourth appearance since November 2008.

It's the second time this season that Bodde's comeback has been hampered by the knee flaring up, and it will require surgery, which is likely to keep him out of action until at least the end of 2010.

The 27 year old first pulled up in a 3-2 defeat at home to Birmingham in the 08/09 season, and since has attempted two comebacks, with both ending the same way; Bodde being replaced in the first half.

His first start this season was at home to Sheffield United, but he was taken off after just 9 minutes of action, and it was originally thought that an operation was needed in order to repair the graft.

But after consultation with a number of specialists, it was discovered that the injury wasn't as bad as first feared, and surgery wasn't neccessary.

However, after his latest setback, an operation is certain, and will be another big setback.

"We all feel for Ferrie,'' confirmed Swans boss Paulo Sousa. "It's something we could never have predicted.

"He received the best medical treatment possible and all the leading specialists confirmed that he was fully recovered to play.

"He looked stronger than ever and fully intergrated himself into training. It's a shock to everyone and all we can do now is wish him a speedy recovery again.''

"I'm devastated,'' admitted Bodde. "It's nobody's fault, just one of those things.

"I've worked really hard over the last few months on my rehab, training seven hours a day and six days a week, and felt really good during the game on Saturday.

"All I can remember is jumping for a ball and turning on my left leg when I landed. I knew something was wrong straight away.

"The doctor said after the scan that I need an operation.''

Planet Swans wish Ferrie the best in his recovery.
