The striker has spent most of the season on loan at Swansea City – a loan spell that finished effectively yesterday, ironically with Trundle having a goal ruled out for handball.

He will now sit down with the Swans and also Bristol City this week to see if he has a future at either club and he told the Evening Post "We are meeting on Wednesday and Thursday and will sit down and see what's happening

"Hopefully it will be the news that I want to hear and I'll be staying here

"I'd take a pay cut to stay here, that's not a problem at all for me.

"I love playing for this club and I want to do all I can to help the club push on and get a play-off spot next season."

And in reference to the "goal" that wasn't he added "I looked at the linesman and he didn't put his flag up, but the referee had a good angle and view," he added.

"We are so close to getting a play-off spot.

"I just hope that I'll be around and do whatever I can do to help this great bunch of lads get to the next level."
