The Swansea City Chairman was speaking after a disappointing week which saw the club lose both Leon Britton and Fede Bessone to Championship rivals.

But having seen both players turn down the deals offered to them by the club, Jenkins admits that he can understand the decision of Britton We can only thank Leon for what he has done for us while at the same time we have helped develop his career." he told the Evening Post

"The fact is, like everybody at some point in their working career, he was going to seek another challenge.

"But throughout his time with us he always gave 100 per cent commitment.

"I fully understand his decision.

"I have talked to Leon and his agent for months about different things. The question that was always in his mind was did he stay with us and settle for another three or four years or did he have a go at something different?

"You can look back and wish you have done something different in your life. If someone wants to go and take on a new challenge they have got to do it.

"I fully understand that people are going to look at new challenges. Perhaps Leon wanted to try something different and I say good luck to him.

"He brought us enthusiasm and hunger. He wanted to develop his career with Swansea," added Jenkins.

"He grew as a player with us and became one of the best we have had in recent times.

"The Leon situation just sums up my point about finding players who are keen to take their careers up to another level."
