In truth it was probably not the start that Swansea City or their supporters wanted with Hull being one of their longest trips of the season but that was what the fixture list computer threw out when the fixtures were released at 9am this morning.
And trip wise it gets little better with the next away games being Norwich and Leeds meaning the Swans will spend much time on the road in the opening month of the season.
Preston (August 14) and Burnley (August 28) are the opening two visitors to the Liberty whilst the Swans once again end at home against Yorkshire opponents – this time Sheffield United with the last away trip of the season a mouth watering clash at the New Den with Millwall.
For the first time since we returned to this level the first derby of the season is at Cardiff – scheduled for November 6 with the return match at the Liberty on February 5.
On Boxing Day the team have a trip to QPR to look forward to – certain to attract a good away support whilst two days later Barnsley make the long trip to the Liberty. And on the Easter weekend at the end of April it's an away trip to Portsmouth on Easter Saturday and Ipswich are at the Liberty on Easter Monday.
