And so once again Swansea City will go on the hunt for a new manager after the confirmation this morning of the early news breaks that were given last night.

Speculation has been rife for several days that Sousa would be on his way and there has long since been rumours of breakdowns in relationship between the manager and Chairman Huw Jenkins.

The club will make a full statement on Sousa's departure at 9.30am this morning.

Sousa was appointed Swansea manager back last summer following the surprise departure of Roberto Martinez and his backroom staff to Wigan.   With little time to work with – and a growing injury list – Sousa kept the Swans in contention with a change in brand of football – one that saw defence being the initial priority as goals by the team became at a premium.

Holding a play off position for much of the season the team fell away dramatically in the last 2 months of last season and eventually the lack of goals hit them hard as they failed to break down Doncaster on the last day of the season – a fact that cost them a play off place to Blackpool.

Supporters were always divided on Paulo with some referring to one of the highest league positions in the club's history but in truth that masked what was non entertaining football and crowds that simply reflected the apathy to that league position because of the style of play.

It was always speculated that if someone came knocking that the club would not stand in his way and now the two parties have decided to part and so it means we sit back and wait to see who next walks through the door marked "Manager – Swansea City FC"

Never a dull moment…
