The Swansea City vice captain will be keeping an eager eye on Saturday’s draw when the Swans find out their fourth round opponents in the Carling Cup with victory in that tie meaning a place in the quarter finals.

And Tate was making no secret of who he wanted when he told the Evening Post “I’d love United, obviously, because I used to be there. United or Arsenal away โ€” that would be class

“But to be honest, I’d take anyone at home.

“It’s a long time since we’ve got this far in the competition.

“Hopefully, we can get a good draw because the only time we’ve had a good draw is in the FA Cup when we got Fulham.

“Big-name clubs have gone out, though it’s not necessarily been first-team squads.

“At the end of the day, everyone does what they do for their own good, but it does give other teams a better chance of progressing in the competition.

We played against a team that had only made one change, were third in their league and had done really well at home,” said Tate.

“That does show the depth of the squad we’ve got. We’ve definitely got more of an attacking threat now.”
