The Swansea City and Wales man was moved into midfield as the Swans finally broke their away duck for this season at Watford on Tuesday night prompting Rodgers to suggest that it may become a more permanent feature – particularly away from the Liberty.

“Tactically I needed to look at things after our defeat at Nottingham Forest last weekend,” Rodgers admitted to the Evening Post.

“We needed that presence in there, but also someone who could play.

“Ash did both sides for us. He passed the ball when he had to and he gave us that physical presence.

“I think for a number of games away from home that’s something I may have to look at.

“Ash has played there for Wales and for Swansea and I thought he was outstanding on Tuesday night.”
