Emnes goal gave Swansea City victory in the derby and closed them to within three points of Cardiff in a deserved victory at the Cardiff City Stadium.

And the goal may be his last in Swans colours with his loan spell ending this week but he was enjoying every moment of the goal.

“I know what the game means and how important the goal is to the supporters,” Emnes told the Western Mail

“I’ve played in many derbies in Holland and I scored the winner in the Sparta- Feyenoord derby, so I know what it means.

“And it’s brilliant to know that I helped create those scenes at the end.

“People are telling me my name will be remembered at Swansea because of the goal, even if I go back to Middlesbrough and not come back, and that’s a really great feeling.

“But I will remember it just as much because it is an incredible feeling.

“Things have gone well for me.

“I’ve settled into the team and got my goals, but my contract is with Middlesbrough so I have to go back to the Riverside.

“It’s a bit sad that I have to go back because of that, but the situation is different at Boro, so we will see what happens and whether I get a chance.

“If not, perhaps I can go on loan again.

“It would be nice to come back to Swansea if that’s the case.”
