The Swansea City captain was originally predicted to be out of action for three weeks but that may now change and he could be back sooner than predicted.
However he will definitely miss the weekend trip to Doncaster where the Swans will go in search of a fifth successive away league victory.
“I think he has had problems with it before,” manager Brendan Rodgers told the Evening Post.
“He has been on a great run of form, but he just felt it slightly against Middlesbrough and we had to take him off.
“He will probably miss the Doncaster game and then we will review it after that.”
