The Swansea City defender scored his second goal of the season on Friday night in the 1-1 draw with Millwall.ย ย With his contract up at the end of the season talks have started over a new deal but Rangel says he is happy to leave those talks for now to his agent whilst he concentrates on the job in hand – continuing the Swans promotion push.
“I said to the manager, I’m open to discuss a new contract, but my main job is playing football,” he told the Evening Post.
“The club have to speak to my agent and whatever happens, he will let me know.
“I said to the gaffer, I don’t want to be thinking about negotiations because it’s not my job.
“I’m happy to speak about a new contract, but so far, we are just in talks.
I haven’t received any calls yet so that means they are still in talks, I guess,” he said.
“It’s always good to have a club’s support behind you and if it’s sorted soon, good.
“If it’s going to take longer, it’s not a thing that worries me.
“This kind of thing hopefully won’t affect the group and we can stick together.”
