The Swansea City captain was as disappointed as anyone to see his side defeated at the weekend especially when a point would have lifted them into the automatic promotion places for Christmas.

And he has called for improvements in the coming games as the promotion race continues to hot up.

“It was a poor performance from us, we controlled the first half without really creating much. To be done by a poor goal like that – a long ball through the middle –is bitterly disappointing.” he told the Western Mail

“We were probably too comfortable on the ball and we lost concentration when we lost the ball. We’ve all got to step up to the plate because it simply wasn’t good enough.

“Everyone has to do their jobs and concentrate for 90 minutes.

“We’ve set such high standards and when we dip below them everyone is disappointed.

“Forget about talking about going second, third or play-offs, you’ve got to get the performance right first and back to the standards we’ve set.

“The last couple of games our performances haven’t been where they should be.

“We have to improve fast and raise ourselves ready for a massive match at QPR.

“Some people will say that we have done well so far to be in fourth place, but we always want more as players, management and a club.

“Why should we settle with what we’ve got? We want more.

“There’s no crisis, no problems – we’ve just got to forget everything else and get back to basics and what we are good at.

“We’ve got great characters and players in the dressing room.

“Yes we are disappointed, but we’ve got a great squad with plenty of quality and we’ll bounce back – and what better place to do it than at the leaders QPR.”
