The Swansea City manager was speaking prior to completing his new signing to the Evening Post and believes that Moore is perfectly suited to the way that the Swans play.
Rodgers said “He is a player we have identified as someone who can improve what we have,
“He’s got lots of potential and it’s a player of that calibre I feel we need to bring in.
“In terms of the type of player we were after for that position, with pace and power and goals he’s got those traits.
“But there is also a hunger in him because he hasn’t quite fulfilled his potential.
“It proved difficult for him as they made a jump to the Premier League again.
“So he’s found himself at 24 with attributes but in need of a home โ quite similar to Scott Sinclair, but only a few years older.
“He needs a home to play and show his qualities. He has got great potential. There’s been good contact with (technical director) Dan Ashworth at West Brom and most things are finalised with the player, so we will see what evolves in the next couple of days.
“I don’t have to (sell) but just because of the working group and the number of players that we have it’s a case that players will have to go,” said Rodgers.
“We’ve got too big a squad and I want to work with a much smaller group. The club are great and understand even though we have a big group and we are paying out wages we don’t necessarily want to, they recognise there are areas we need to strengthen.”
