Rumours are also suggesting that it could be season ending although this is unlikely to be confirmed until tomorrow at the earliest but could prompt Brendan Rodgers to move into the transfer window to replace a very influential member of his squad.
Alan Tate will return next week against Crystal Palace having sat out the last of his three match suspension today but if the rumours are true then cover will be needed at the back with Neil Taylor also still out of the side through injury.
