The Swansea City manager goes into Sunday’s clash with Cardiff City with a budget that is a small fraction of that spent by the Bluebirds.
But Rodgers also knows that his side holds a 2 point advantage ahead of the game which is more important and he is happy with the way that he is forced to operate by the strict budgetary control that operates at the club.
“I’m at a club which is perfect for me,” Rodgers told the Western Mail.
“Every manager would love to have big funds to work with and buy in players.
“But we’ve got something here that money can’t buy.
“We’ve got talent, players that are humble and not distorted by football, which nowadays can be very difficult with the money and media and all the things which surround football.
“I’ve got players that money can’t buy.
“Guys like Alan Tate, Garry Monk, those types of players.
“That can carry you as far as a £10m player.
“Knowing this league quite well in terms of wages that players are on and what our guys are on, for us to be in the position we are in is incredible.
“It’s a massive, massive applause for the players that we are up there fighting.
“If you look at the money aspect and had a table in terms of spending power, we would sit down near the bottom.
“So it’s a mark of how well the players have done here.
“The group have been fantastic to get us in the position we are in and I hope as the season goes on we will become stronger.
“We still have a lot of improvements to make as a group and hopefully we will see those over the next couple of years.
“I’d be lying if I said we didn’t want funds, but I am proud of how the club works and at least I will always know where I am with the chairman and the board.
“They are very determined about how the place should be run and I respect that.
“Me and the chairman have a laugh and joke, I want to get something out of him, and then he smiles because he knows how the club is run, then I’ll keep pushing him.
“He respects me being ambitious for the club.
“He knows he’s got someone here who wants to be here for a number of years and take the club forward on and off the field.
“I’ve got a real honest board and chairman and players.
“I’m happy and content with my job here. We will all continue to strive and move forward.”
