And speaking after the game, Bellamy told BBC Sport “Probably in overall play I didn’t deserve it but things have always seemed to go that way for me.
“That’s twice their right back has played me out of the game – I would have liked to have played better but I’ll not remember my overall performance, just the goal and the win which was important.
“I thought we had some good chances – it was a typical derby. It will just be a matter of time before someone does the double over each other as both teams are on the up.
“We cannot lie the result is great – I have always wanted to play in this sort of derby and to get the goal and the win despite my overall play – I’ll take it all day long.”
