Rodgers Proud Of Swans Despite Defeat

Rodgers watched his Swansea City side beaten by arch rivals Cardiff City at the Liberty – a defeat that dropped them down a further place to 5th in the Championship table.

Rodgers told BBC Sport after the game “I thought it was the cliched game – a game of two halves.ย  They had the better in terms of chances in the first half where we didn’t quite get our rhythm.ย  Second half I thought there was only going to be one winner.

Darcy Blake hit the post after a run but I just felt that as the game went on it looked as if we were going to get the goal.

“And then obviously from nothing – Angel Rangel who had been magnificent over the course of the two games against Craig Bellamy – he makes a great first touch and pass to Aaron Ramsey and without any cover he’s hit a wonderful strike.

“It’s disappointing to lose the game but I’m very proud of the team today.

“The dressing room is obviously disappointed like we are if we lose any game but in particular a derby game and I feel for the plyers, supporters and anyone connected with the club.ย  We didn’t quite get the result that we wanted but there are many more big games to come between now and the end of the season and if we can get up there in the end then that will be justice for us.

“Hopefully now we can both go on and climb up the table and both teams get in thereย  – us before them!!”
