The Swansea City goalkeeper was powerless to stop Craig Bellamy’s 85th minute winner for Cardiff City that settled a nervy derby and lifted the visitors back above the Swans in the Championship table.

It was a goal that was deserved for the away side and De Vries handed them credit for getting it right on the day

“It’s a big blow because you are not just playing for yourself you are playing for many other people,” he told the Western Mail

“You are playing for the people of Swansea, for pride and it’s a massive three points.

“We couldn’t be ourselves, we were not the dominant side we like to be but we have to learn from that.

“It was frustrating. We want to be a dominant side and that’s got to result in chances.

“We want to create chances because the more you create, the more likely you are to score one of them.

“We didn’t do it enough and then you end up losing.

“They studied our game very well. Some teams cope better with our system than others and Cardiff did it well.

“We couldn’t get our passes going enough but fair play to them.

“We didn’t see much of Bellamy all game, I thought Angel (Rangel) played him very well but you can see his quality and how he can decide a match.”
