The Swansea City captain was referring to claims by the Nottingham Forest manager who has often complained about how little money he has to spend.
Yet Forest have 5 players in their ranks that cost £1m or more and Robert Earnshaw – as pointed out by the Western Mail – cost more (£3m) than the entire squad that Rodgers will field in today's crunch game.
Monk told the Western Mail “He is one of those managers who bemoans not having any money, but he’s probably got six of the best forwards in the league
“He spent millions on just his full-backs and plenty of money throughout the rest of the team.
“So I don’t quite know what he is moaning about, maybe he should come here and try it.
“They are a good, talented squad and with the fans they’ve got they will always be up there challenging.
“If they don’t make it or challenge every season it’s probably seen as a failure.
“I would love to have those sorts of resources, but we haven’t had it for a long time and we just get on with it,” added Monk.
“If we get where we want to be we can have all those things for generations to come.”
