Butler Ready To End Injury Nightmare

The Swansea City wide man has yet to feature at all this season after an injury jinxed time but he is now close to full fitness and ready to play his part should he be needed.

Butler told the Western Mail "t’s hard being on the outside looking in

“To be out for so long is frustrating but I want to see the club do well.

“You feel guilty as well. When you’re injured and being paid you know people must think of you as a ‘sick note’.

“You feel like showing them the scans. It’s horrible and Ferrie (Bodde) will tell you the same.

“Others don’t know the whole saga you’ve been through.

“If I get through the reserve game I should be past all the hard stuff,” said Butler.

“At the start of the season I tore my thigh muscle and tried to come back doing normal rehab.

“But I did it again two or three times, so I went to see a specialist who recommended I have the muscle stitched together and pinned to my hip.

“The surgeon did a really good job. He stitched it together and pinned it to my hip, so in fact I’ll probably come back stronger. It feels stronger.

“It’s been frustrating all the way through because you do the same rehabilitation.

“You’re out for seven weeks, you re-injure, come back and do another seven weeks and just when you think you’re in your last week it goes again.

“But if you let yourself get down about it you’ll never recover.

“Brendan has been great,” added Butler. “I’ve been at clubs before where managers look at long-term injuries and don’t consider you as part of the team, that’s just the way they do things.

“The whole way through the season, from when I got the injury, he will come and chat to me every day and ask me how it’s going.

“When you’re doing your rehab it’s little things like that which can give you a boost.

“It shows the calibre of manager we have.

“We haven’t talked about a new deal yet and given I’ve been out for so long I don’t really worry about things like that.

“I just have to get through training month by month and then see what happens.

“There’s no reason for me to leave. We play such good football and the training is fantastic.

“I like the club and I would like to stay here but whatever happens, happens.”
