The Swansea City goalkeeper produced another clean sheet against Norwich City and took the Sky man of the match award in the process as the Swans moved within a point of second place.
And with another home game to come against Hull City on Tuesday, the Swans have the chance to press on and move up the table with both Norwich and Cardiff playing away from home.
And De Vries believes the Swans are worthy of a top two place as he explained to the Western Mail “On another big day and big occasion the team showed what they are worth
“We showed we are worthy of fighting for the top places.
“We’ve managed to pull out the results against Leeds and Nottingham Forest and now Norwich.
“We played well and let’s hope we can put in another good shift on Tuesday against Hull because we’ve managed to close the gap on Norwich to one point and it’s going to be interesting.
“The positive thing is that, because we try to play attacking football, with slick passing and the right attitude, we get the rewards for that in the end and we’re looking forward to the six games that are left.
“Given that we needed the result – we were coming off the back of a loss and with the great crowd we had – it was one of the best results of the season.
“I think we deserved the result because of the way this team works together.
“It was quite a quiet match for me, apart from the first five minutes, when I had to make a double save and a minute later Fabio scored the free-kick
“Then, in the second half, when we were 2-0 up, I managed to pull off another double save, which stopped them getting back into it.
“It wasn’t the busiest game for me, but when I was needed I was there.”
