‘’Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion’’ Jack Welch
The first and only time I've talked to Brendan Rodgers was last July when I bumped into him in Morgans whilst out with my wife for our anniversary, He had only recently took over from Sousa. It was only a brief chat but I wished him good luck for the coming season and cheekily asked him if he had any transfers lined up his response was simply
" I've got a few things lined up."
Well, here’s a stat for you Swans fans. Of the 58 League goals our Swans have scored this season, 27 of them have come from Buck’s Permanent and Loan signings. That’s a massive 46%, almost half!
Scott Sinclair 17
Fabio Borini 3
Marvin Emnes 2
Luke Moore 2
Jermaine Easter 1
Frank Nouble 1
Tamas Priskin 1
Although some may say Luke Moore is Pintardo in disguise he has still been more prolific than Fernando Torres in a Blues shirt.
It’s not just offensively we have excelled with our signings. Mr Rodgers has also appeared to resolve the previous season’s left back dilemma with the diamond find of Neil Taylor. Tate has covered it well the previous seasons but I don’t feel it’s his most natural position, Bessone showed development last season at left back but never seemed to offer enough. Neil Taylor – A free transfer with 150k compensation to Wrexham is an absolute steal given his performances this season.
It makes me wonder what we can expect from Harley and Donnelly when they start to make appearances in the coming seasons.
Can any other manager boast such an amazing record in the transfer market; let’s also take into account that he has not spent millions achieving this. Brendan has gained maximum yields with minimum resources, gaining these results with what most championship teams around us would spend on a single player.
It’s not only the Ins but the Outs that have impressed. The clearing out of wage draining Lopez, the necessary release of the loveable and hard working Kuqi and the loan out of the Bull had been called by many fans.
I would love to see what this man could do given the kitty that would become available with Premier League promotion.
In Brendan’s transfers we trust!
